A family of gemstones composed of: aquamarine (blue, greenish/blue), morganite (pink, peach or purplish-pink), golden beryl (golden yellow to yellow-green), green (light green), emerald (intense green), red - also known as Bixbite, and colorless - also known as goshenite. They are some of the most valued of all colored gemstones.
Beryl comes in a wide range of colors and durability depending on the individual variety. Intense color and clarity are the most essential considerations in evaluating the beryl family. Some types receive treatments to enhance their colors, and these should always be disclosed. Beryls in general (with the exception of most emerald) are durable gems and good for any kind of setting.
