While she's carving, Sherris wears magnifying loupes so that she can see fine detail. The process of her art is mostly done at this close-up, magnified level and the intricate patterns of light and color are a large part of her inspiration.

To share that inspiration, Sherris works closely with photographer/designer Amy Balthrop (Akanni). Amy's many years of experience in capturing the essence of a subject with photography combine with her design savvy to best express the "life" of the gems into a 2-dimensional form.

The close-up images of Sherris' gems found here in our products offer a glimpse into her world. These show the distinct, individual pattern found in each gem while showcasing the amazing colors so prized in gemstones.
