Freestanding sculpture is an exciting option for those who love to look at – but not wear – their gems.
Like the jewelry sized gem carvings, Sherris' freestanding sculptures are carved to amplify the finest attributes that each gem has to offer – whether that be intense color, startling clarity, or sheer magnificence of size.
Current sculptures, as well as sold and commissioned works, are represented here. Several pieces have won national or international awards; including The Waterfall Suite, Mae, Aurora, and the chalcedony perfume bottle.
To create a sculpture Sherris transforms raw crystals into elegant, abstract shapes; then weaves light throughout the sculpture with the aid of highly polished sweeping grooves, concave surfaces and short, staccato indentations.
