The cognac zircons are usually gems that have not been heat treated which renders them more durable than the blue variety. This variety has amazing life to the cut/carved gems and this unusual color isn't found in other types of gemstones. Coming mostly from the southern regions of Africa, cognac zircon is a very affordable member of the zircon family.
