Ranging from red to burgundy to violet-red, these gems show a distinct difference in shade from amethyst but are full of light and brilliance. Sometimes they are heat treated to enhance their color.
Is it red or purple? Sometimes its hard to tell, but we will defer to the gemologists who declare these gems to be purple. Mined in Tanzania, these gems are actually purple with strong red overtones, and look entirely different in daylight and incandescent light. For gem collectors and enthusiasts, the purple zircon is an exciting specimen. We just think they are beautiful.
